weekend wrap-up

Friday:
  • Poker: won first tournament and drank too much whiskey to have much interest in the second

Saturday:
  • Nicole and I met a law school buddy and his wife who are visiting his folks in Albany and took them to Gravy for breakfast
  • Had a bunch of yard work done on the house
  • Living room piggy-back ride
  • Plans for dinner ended up with Nicole and I by ourselves, but after being faced with a possible 90-minute wait at Farm Cafe, we drove a few more minutes and got seated immediately at 3 Doors Down
  • Plans for after-dinner show or movie ditched in favor of hitting the couch and popping in a Netflix

Sunday:
  • Plans to get up early and watch the sunrise in the Gorge ditched in favor of sleeping in
  • Church, late
  • Home improvement projects; laundry; groceries
  • Wrestling
  • Drove downtown to Kenny and Zuke's for dinner; neither of us could finish more than half our sandwiches
  • Bloggn; winding down

Next weekend: more visiting friends, birfday party :D

Updated: movie list and book list.

So who was on top? (Referring to the piggyback ride, of course! Sheesh!)

I have heard good things about this Kenny and Zuke's. One of the things I have heard is that they have actual bagels there (as opposed to round bread). Is this true?

Holy crap! What am I doing messing around trying to make my own, then!?

I just can't understand what happened to Kornblatt's. :( One day I went and had a real bagel, then a couple months later I went and it was squishybread. WTF :(

Not a bagel fan myself, so I haven't tried them ... but apparently they regularly sell out, so they're doing something right, I guess?

hmm, well, possibly you're right, but then again, people around here have AWFUL taste in bagels overall ;) But either way, I like bread products, so it's probably worth a try. I just have to ask these questions...I would hate to drive all the way in from North The 'Couve and be disappointed by bagel quality!

The pastrami is the best I've ever tried, if you're a fan of that.

I highly recommend Kettleman's on SE 12th and Sherman. They are real.

Indeed, pwn3d by pastrami.

It was humbling, but then again, there are leftovers. :)

I've had Eats, Shoots & Leaves for a long time, and was super excited to get it, but it's been put off in favor of other reads. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.

You know, it's an easy, fun read that doesn't require a lot of investment in terms of remembering characters and plots. Time permitting, it could probably fit in among other reading material.

I know all about opting for the sleeping in and popping in a netflix :) Sometimes it's good to just relax.
