weekend summary (so far)

So, I live about one minute's walk from this place:

Saturday morning, Nic and I took a leisurely stroll here after breakfast and took some pics before she had to head in to work. I liked the variegated roses the best. Some great colors. I can't wait to get a nice camera with a macro lens, but these from Nic's point-and-shoot will certainly do for now.

Today, we went on a hike up around Oneonta Gorge, and made it up to Triple Falls before heading back. We were pretty happy to be out there.

Stopped at Edgefield for a beer and sweet potato fries on the way home, then chilled for a bit. Heading out to get some pizza now. Leftover blackberry pie awaits in the fridge for later.

Is the first pic of the Rose Garden? Where is that again, i've been wanting to visit it. I adore roses. Do you know if they sell any roses etc as I'm pretty sure they won't let me take a cutting to start. lol

Gorgeous pics.

The first pic (sorry, should have mentioned it in the post) is Peninsula Park, the city's first rose garden until Washington Park became open to the public.

I don't think you can buy roses from either park -- the gift shop at Washington Park sells everything rose-shaped you can imagine, except, it seems, roses.

Gosh it looks beautiful. I'll have to visit there sometime.

Bummer re: the roses, although a friend just told me about a place called Heirloom Roses which have a huge variety for sale I guess. :o)

heh, when we went, that was the only way to get down to the end and see the waterfalls. The trail may have been changed since then. :)

It was fantastic. We got on the trailhead about noon, and although it was overcast, it got warm and sunny after only about an hour or so. Perfect frolicking weather.

no, silly! THAT rose garden is Peninsula Park (in North Portland.) Mount Tabor doesn't have any rose gardens. (that I know of.) The hiking picture is out in the gorge. I just meant that I am wearing my Mount Tabor neighborhoody because you said you were getting one too. :)
