once per century

On Wednesday of this week, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.

I remember almost thirty years ago when my grandfather introduced me to this concept. I'm pretty sure it was a Sunday, we were having coffee and donuts after church, and he looked at his watch and told me that it was 12:34 5/6/78. I was completely awed.

For many years after that, I kept special time/date codes in a notebook, keeping note of instances of orders of digits (e.g. 12:34:56 7/8/90) and other interesting combinations (e.g. 11:11:00 11/11/00), and figured that if you're creative, you can come up with at least a few per year. It fascinated me for a good couple of decades. I wonder why I don't do that any more?
