peeve of the now:

(as distinct from a small bike)

The writing style wherein sentences are ended with ellipses.

I hate this, when the tactic is used in order to convey the idea that the author is pausing for the inevitable laughter that the humor delivered in the sentence will (at least in the author's mind) doubtlessly provoke.

Almost invariably, however, the statement is completely unfunny to begin with, so I automatically interpret those poor, abused ellipses as the written equivalent of the sad trombone.
