Claire Stockdale and the little colored dogs of gmail

For the WTF files ...

I started a gmail account in June 2004 (predictably, it's "littlebluedog@gmail").

It's been all but inactive since I created it, but I logged in earlier today to check out the gchat feature. Of the four messages in my Inbox, the subject line of the most recent caught my eye:
Your Gmail account, littlebrownyorkie@gmail.com, has been created
I don't recall creating this account, but apparently someone did, less than two weeks ago.

Curious, I tried logging in with the 'yorkie username, with my default "Level 1" password I use for most website registrations: no go. So I selected the "I forgot my username" link, which prompted me to name my favorite kind of dog. I guessed "yorkie" first, and then "blue" ... neither worked, so I chose the "reset password" option.

At this point, I'm still thinking that I created this account for some goofy reason, but just can't remember doing so.

The reset link was sent to the secondary e-mail address listed in the 'yorkie account: littlebluedog@gmail.

My gmail address. So whoever created the 'yorkie account listed my gmail address as a contact address.

Via the reset link, I reset the 'yorkie password and accessed the account. There were three messages in the Outbox, and one in the Draft folder.

Two of the outgoing messages are to littlegreendog@gmail. Curiouser and curiouser!

Here's the text of the draft e-mail:
Dear Ms. Baron,

I LOVED THE FERRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE! when im older i will get a ferret. thanks for brining him in (is it a he or a she?)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Astute readers of this blog will note that although this writing style closely emulates my own, there are subtle (yet telling) differences. For one, I strongly prefer brining nutria to ferrets.

The personal information associated with the google account includes the name "Claire Stockdale." At first I felt a little invasive checking the other messages in the Outbox for more info, but there was nothing personal in there. I guess it's no different than looking through a found wallet that you want to return. I sent a message to littlegreendog and to Ms. Baron explaining the sitch.

Claire, if you find this message, let's figure out how to get this account back to you. Always happy to help a fellow little colored canine.
