seattle

This weekend, I hosted a birthday party for Betsy at my house, but last weekend, Nicole and I stole a few days away in Seattle.

We stayed at Hotel 1000, which was pretty cool. The bathroom was huge, separated from the guest room by a glass wall with an electronic privacy shade, and had a two-person tub that filled from the ceiling. The service and amenities were fantastic.
Some odd pictograms, though. We figured this one, which we found on a door in the hallway to the elevator, indicated "You Can Hide Behind Pants In This Room."

We met Amanda for drinks in the hotel's wine bar, and hung our coats on something that might have been a sculpture, or might have been a coat rack, we weren't sure. Then we had Italian food for dinner and they made fun of the fact that yes, sometimes I like to wear a do-rag.

We also went to a total of three toy stores, starting with this one.

(We also hit this one, and finally this one, which was conveniently located right next door to the hotel.)
Archie McPhee had all kinds of crazy stuff. Orange finger monster, yellow finger monster, red finger monster, blue finger monster, horny finger monster, pink finger monster, purple-armed finger monster ... and, frog.
Erin and Isaac found a troll under a bridge on their trip, so we went hunting for it, and were confused by parking signs.
Something told us we were on the right track.
Found him! Nicole helped the poor guy out with a stray nose hair.
I thought this building was cool.
We checked out the library, another building I thought was cool.
We accidentally wandered into the inside of a spaceship.
We tried to have breakfast at Cyclops in Belltown, but were told by a crazy lady who said she was the owner that her cook got thrown in jail that morning, so we went to Peso's instead.
I inhaled a bag of donuts at the Pike Place market, while waiting for the dudes to throw some fish around.

This is where we also got some squeaky cheese.

Other things we did: walked around downtown, ate some of the best scallops I've ever tasted, got pretty krunk at the hotel bar (which has a really cool lighted wall that changes color), drank Newcastle, tried to count all of the Starbucks we saw, chatted with buskers, and pretty much had a fantastic time.

This sums up how I felt about the trip. :)
