Gawd. I'm certainly not above reproach for getting my hackles raised and occasionally resorting to rudeness in online forums, but it is still surprising to me how often, when anyone speaks up and suggests being polite, for example, in disagreement or when someone screws up, his voice is immediately drowned out by a chorus shouting that This Is The Internets and That's How Things Are, or trotting out the "Serious Business" refrain in ridicule.
Um, WHY? We're no less deserving of common courtesy online than we are elsewhere. I guess it's just easier, and/or more fun, to be a dick. Whatever. The Campaign for Internets Niceness starts here.

I got up at 5:15 this morning and was in the office by 6:30. These days it's so light outside that I had no problem feeling awake and refreshed, which is certainly a stark contract from the winter. I think I might try this regularly, I've been pretty productive this morning. The office is quiet until about 9.
