Yesterday:
  • 14:10 Found a dying bird on the sidewalk - probably had smacked into a window above and fell. Laid him in a nearby fenced, grassy area. :(

  • 16:13 Lots of bird drama today. A dozen crows are scolding a hawk in a nearby tree for holding a dazed pigeon in it's talons.

  • 16:22 "... its talons." I blame Twitterriffic's (or the iPhone's) autocorrect feature for the errant apostrophe.

  • 16:56 Not sure if my friend is sleeping, or gave up the ghost. Either way, he looks more peaceful than when I found him. twitpic.com/1qr12m
This morning (so far):
  • 08:32 My little avian friend wasn't where I left him last night. Encouraged by this.

Not twenty minutes ago when I let my dog out into my side yard I found a small dead bird on the ground under my second story bedroom window....
Yay for bird drama! Not......:/

he may have been recharging/recovering from the window smackdown

found a pigeon in my backyard phoenix home one winter afternoon/evening.

he just sat there alert, but definitely not moving about or flying anywhere.

later in the evening i heated a couple of bricks and sat them next to him for a little heat, it was a cold night, hoping to bring him some comfort. not that it mattered to anyone or anything but me.

he was gone the next morning.

'Tis the season for these bebes learning to fly... I did the *exact* same thing a couple nights ago when Mel and I were on a walk. I always hope them being gone is a good sign, too... although, after dusk, i know it's anybody's dinn...er... game.
